Adding a river of stones badge to your blog

If you'd like to add one of the badges to your side-bar, here's the html you'll need:

This one for the dark stones:

This one for the pale stones:

Let me know if you get stuck! (thanks Kaspa)

  1. Ah thanks for that Fiona. I did try with the other link--posted further down the page according to my screenreader--but I couldnt' get it working. This works beautifully though.

    Cheers,
    Simon

  3. fiona- neither of the above links work for me. i'm copying and pasting, but it keeps saying something like "illegal command" or something???

  4. Hmm - I'll ask Kaspa if he has any ideas when he's back... alternatively you can always copy the picture and make a link for it, if you know how to do that on your blog? I'll get back to you!

  5. (As you're on blogger you should just be able to go to 'design' then 'add a gadget' and add the badge picture (save it onto your computer first) and add the link to this site in the link section?)

  6. ok, that seems to have worked! thanks

  7. I would like to join the challenge. I am new to blogging as this moment! Tried to put the badge on my blog, but it says contains illegal characters. Thanks for inviting those of us who are not writers and in my case probably really lack any talent at it...LOL Looking forward to growing in the new year! :)

  8. Buggie - glad you're joining us and welcome to the world of blogging! Another way to do the badge on Blogger would be to copy the image of the badge onto your computer, then go into 'design' (top right) then 'add gadget' then go down and find 'picture', then add the picture you've saved and put this web address in the 'link'. Make sense?! Anyway badge or not, good to have you.

  9. Fiona:
After reading some of the posts I thought it a good idea to keep a separate blog for a river of stones so my regular writing blog doesn't get cluttered and confusing. My address for a river of stones will be: http://margoroby.blogspot.com/
and the title if Random Stones.
Am glad to see Kaspa on board as have grown fond of him through all your mentions!

  11. I have tried several times but cannot get the badge for the pale stone to work! In my Wordpress blog I am provided with a sidebar image widget and it requires me to put in the image url. I have copied and pasted the code above and all I get is a box with a cross in it and the alternate text. Help!

  12. Libby - can you just save the image onto your computer and then use the url from there? Anyone else on Wordpress who can help?

  13. Hi Fiona,
This is a wonderful opportunity to "see" what's out there in the world beyond my little studio....I think it will be great to look around at the world for my designs...sometimes you don't see beyond the top of the desk..

I would like to add another "blog" to my original blog in the sidebar.......any thoughts on how to do this. There does not seem to be a gadget available, or I just can't find it.

  14. Hi Sandy - I'd just create a completely new blog and then create a link to it on your current blog - good luck.

  15. Many thanks Fiona but my wonderful computer literate son has sorted it for me now he has returned home. It seems I was copying the wrong bit of code!!! (I really am a dumdum!)

  16. I am excited to try this. I have limited expertise in the tech side of the blog. I am on wordpress, and can't figure out how to get the badge on my home page. The above commenter said she solved it, but not how.

here is the link to the page on my blog:

  17. I decided, at the last minute, to participate in your wonderful experiment!

The blog of mine which I will be using is here:

It took me a couple of hours, but I even managed to get one of your lovely badges on my sidebar. :)

  18. Hi
I've followed the instructions above to add the badge to my blog. But every time I save and click on the link it has added my blog url to the beginning of the code I copied from above... any idea why and what I can do to stop this?
    Thanks

  19. Thanks so much for the code-

It worked wonderfully in Blogger by opening "Design" - going to add gadget and then choosing the HTML/java script option. I cannot imagine how much work this is for you- thank you once again-

  20. Hi fyreflye - I don't know what you are doing I'm afraid. Try typing in the code rather than acopied and pasting?

-teri - Great, thanks for adding the badge, and yes lots of work - we had lots more people than we anticipated, which is great - but it is taking hours and hours of time :)

alwaysinthebackrow - you need to add a text widget to the sidebar and copy this text into there. Please look on Wordpress.com for more instructions.

  21. Hello!

Better a late joiner than never, I hope!

I followed Teri's instructions and had no trouble adding the badge.

And now I suppose I ought to stop messing around and write something...

  24. Thanks so much, I have wanted to have a badge for ages. I did have to use the photo/link process but I'm thrilled.
